CLIMIT to enter project cooperation with German COORETEC

The overall goal of the project (Phases I, II and III) is to develop one or more burner concepts for lean "pre-mix" combustion of hydrogen-rich fuel in gas turbines..

​The overall goal of the project (Phases I, II and III) is to develop one or more burner concepts for lean "pre-mix" combustion of hydrogen-rich fuel in gas turbines for power generation with NOx emissions at a state of the art level for low NOx combustion technology for natural gas. This is done without adding nitrogen or other diluting substances and without treating the flue gas after combustion.



The results from this project will have great significance for pre-combustion CO2 capture. The possibility of burning hydrogen-rich fuel in power plants with low NOx emissions is important for this capture technology.

This project is very demanding in technical terms, and Klaus Schöffel, head of CLIMIT's secretariat, believes it is very positive that SINTEF's expertise is internationally renowned, and that they are cooperating with the foremost German and Swiss experts in the field.

According to Klaus Schöffel, this is the first project supported by CLIMIT along with the German COORETEC.
